I quite like these ideas - I mostly miss the ability to lasso an entire bunch of modules and then just move them as a group.

However I think it would be very difficult to design a combination of auto-align and locking items in place. It's not difficult if you only lock one module in place, but if you lock 2 or more, it could become mathematically impossible to distribute the modules on the canvas depending on where you have locked them. But perhaps the auto-align feature would simply be disabled in the case where you have locked multiple modules.
